Make 2022 the Most Lit Year Ever by Setting It to the Dopest of Soundtracks
You’d be shocked at how time consuming what might otherwise be thought of as throwaway articles like my books, movies, and music series is. I enjoy the hell out of it, but my creative energies are needed elsewhere, and I frankly haven’t read a book that blew my skirt up in some time. The movies I’ve loved, I’ve posted about on my Instagram, but I thought that you guys might want to see what I listen to and see if you can find new shit you like out of any of this stuff.
Nowhere in this are you going to find anything slow, whiny, sad, or bleak- I bring the hard-charging shit with the positive vibes, because that’s how I roll, and at least one study has helped science catch up to broscience a bit. It found that lifters listening to self-selected hype up music “demonstrated increased performance during an explosive exercise and an altered mood state” as opposed to control, which falls in line with my experience. I tailor my music to what I am trying to accomplish at any given time, and as depressing, slow, or dull music achieves no positive aim of which I am aware, I avoid it like the plague- I find myself literally drained of energy by it.
In any event, here’s what I’ve been listening to these past 12 months, which were the best consecutive dozen months of my life.
First, we have the playlist Spotify compiled out of my most listened-to songs of 2021. I listen to music damn near constantly, and you might be surprised to find my musical tastes are much as I’ve led you to believe. Though cripplingly addicted to aggressive music- I doubt you’ll find any genre surprises in here (though as I write the preview songs in no way resemble my playlist, though when it plays the songs are correct. If you want to see the track titles listed correctly, here’s the link). This list is a mix of the three playlists I play the most often- my personal hype up mix, my lifting mix, and the mix I made for smoking weed/working.
Next, here’s the music I generally play around the house or at the NJ Weedman’s Joint if the DJ’s not there yet and I’m on the music. Because there’s a guy who plays mostly Tejano and a guy who plays mostly new rap and r&B, I made mine the hyphy mix, combining underground rap suggestions from the 20-something kids at the shop with the new punk and rock that’s coming out, plus some old Hot Topic classics that everyone under the age of 50 can at least bop their heads to.
My lifting playlist, which i am constantly updating, is this:
And finally, my GOAT mix- songs that fire me the fuck up when I need to feel myself, and songs that make me 100% on fire when I am already feeling like a bad motherfucker. I keep my mind on go at all times, unless I am sleeping, and listening to this is part of how I do it. Once you read a few of the song titles you’ll know the vibe.
Go forth and do awesome things. I’ll have part one of the updated supplements/PEDs series up shortly!

If you’re looking for books, you might like Apocalypse Now Now, by Charlie Human. Urban fantasy shit, with a distinctive Saffa twist. Some teenage angsting, but far more porn, drugs, and violence. Kieran Shea’s EBK series is worth a read too – dumb scifi/cyberpunk fun, but still cool. Corporate mercenaries, genetic mutants, fighters biting out a downed opponent’s eyes, plenty of drugs and fucking. It’s decent.
Hahahaha. I actually have never even considered fucking as part of the literary experience, though I do love me some weird erotica on occasion. I’ll give that shit a look! Good looking out. I recently read a book in a series about a team of female mercenary librarians in the apocalyptic future that was dope. Kit Rocha was the author on that, so that series might be up your alley as well. good looks on the recommendations!
