I contacted Mike the second I stumbled upon information that the earliest pro lifters literally worked for their drug dealers and posted the Instagram post above as a kind of teaser. Then after some research, he and I busted out this beauty, in which I discuss how closely tied lifting, supplements, PEDs, and the performance arts are.

In the USA it is easy to legally purchase coca tea. Just google it. As tea it does very little, but simply add a small amount of bicarbonate of soda and chew the stuff and bang, you get high. Higher than the wine method you mention, The alkali extracts the cocaine. But you are not going partying with a gob full of plant matter and saliva, and it takes up to an hour to get the full effect. Not bad for poor farmers in Latin America who need a cheap ergogenic and appetite suppression. Legal disclaimer – I am simply describing the process, not advocating it or claiming to have done it myself.

As I understand it, because the percentage of cocaine in the natural leaf and the small quantities sold (not enough to engage in cocaine production but enough for personal use) this COCAINE source is tolerated. Trust me, it works.
