Hail To The King, Baby- There’s A New King At 181
… and his name at Jamie Lewis. I haven’t posted this week as I’d been cutting and traveling for the APA Power Frenzy at Iron Sport. After a retardedly horrible cut to 181, I lifted raw (no belt, no wraps) and posted what will be the highest total of any 181 pounder who’s currently lifting, and 2nd on the Powerliftingwatch.com all time list.
My attempts were:
Squat- 545, 585, 605, 615 (4th)
Bench- 335, 355, 375(missed)
Deadlift- 565, 605, 640, 655 (4th)
Total: 1600 on third attempts, and 1625 including the 4ths.
– Previously, WC Waldron was the #1 squatter with 606.
– Previously, Alex Tertisky was the #1 ranked Total with 1598.
The whole thing was streamed live online, so vids of my attempts will be forthcoming (set to “Suck My Dick” by DJ Valentino for the amusingly shittalking-prone internet powerlifting community). Until I can get those, here’s a random pic of me Steve Pulcinella posted on Facebook.

Congrats, of course, I'm very jealous of that deadlift. I agree with Raw Finn though, as much as you hate it, it seems like focusing a little more on the bench press would be the easiest way to improve that total. Strong as you are, It probably wouldn't take that much for you to be benching well over 400.

In re the bench, I've been working it a bit and thought I had a shot at 405, actually. To that end, I tried an Oly shoulder stretch I read about on Pendlay's website and fucked my shoulder to bits. It's inflamed as hell, and I had to drop my opener by ten lbs just to ensure I'd get it- I close gripped it. 355 went up fairly easily and I thought I'd get 375, but my shoulder was fucking killing me, in spite of ketamine cream and a cortisone shot. I hit a 3 second paused double with 345 two weeks ago, however, so the bench is moving upwards. I considered reverse gripping but was worried about dropping it in my mouth with the state of my shoulder.
Jip- who do you think the "Suck my dick" video's for? Hahaha.
Tell us more about ketamine cream – where do you get that shit and does it make you high? It makes me think of the "flying salves" witches used to use.

TPS makes it and it's available by prescription only. It's not going to get you high. I suppose you could eat it, but I didn't- lidocaine in the throat seems like a decent way to suffocate yourself. It's a mix of a bunch of shit.
Damn, you would have a shot at a 1700 lb total with a better bench.
What was the stretch? Shoulder dislocations? You have to be really careful with those unless you already have some pretty supple shoulders.
A just over 1700 lb total with no wraps/belt would be an all time record at 181, and not incredibly far off from record with wraps/belt.
I've no idea what it's called- it was an overhead lockout with the bar and you let the bar drift back while you push your head forward. Was supposed to help with overhead squats and the like. All it did was fuck my bench to bits.
Sounds like you "touched" your anterior ligaments of the shoulder. Possibly Labrum as well.
Don't know why you would do it in the first place. People already have a tendency (especially overhead weightlifters) to develop more of a posterior ligament stiffening.
Most common cause of shoulder dysfunction towards overhead lifting comes from faulty scapulothoratic kinematics.
So why you would pop your shoulder to the front is beyond me.
Good luck with the rehab though. I'm actually writing my thesis on it.

Thanos- As it happens, I have a bone spur in there, and am just dealing with a shitload of inflammation. I've been taking some kind of time released Ibuprofin, icing it, and using the TPS cream, so it's getting better slowly but surely. I'm going to take a crack at Bob McKee's records in the next couple of months I think, so hopefully it'll stop being a bitch.

Auwtch. Bone spur can be a pain in the ass, and regrow if you're not carefull or lead to frozen shoulder (although I doubt the later in your case).
